I'm working on a 35mm 3-perf PAL project, with film rate audio.
I have been capturing the entire TK tapes, and then subclipping by bringing in log files generated by telecine.
Now, with a couple of months of editing behind us, it appears that some of the keycodes in the metadata were incorrect.
I modified the offending files in Avid Log Exchange, then I imported them into the TK master clips using 'merge sources'.
However, when I look at my cut sequences, the metadata has not updated itself, nor has it in the subclips originally created by the first batch of log files.
Is it possible to reflect this new metadata in the cut sequences, without recreating every single subclip and replacing every shot manually?
thank youuu
Edit the metadata directly in the bin, not in the original ALE.

Is there a way to edit keynumbers in the bin itself?
The only way that occurs to me would be by editing the column directly. Which can't be done with key numbers..
thanks, xt
You can edit keynumbers directly in the bin.
even on subclips?
Yes, even on subclips. Just make sure that the event used in the timeline was editing from the subclip in order to inherit the updated keynumber.
So if I show the sequence's reference clips I should be able to edit them in the bin? nice.
How, though? If I try and enter data in the keynumber columns I just get an error sound... How should I be trying to modify them directly in the bin?
Thank you....
Interesting - it should work and I have done it on many many features that I have edited. Please zip your bin with the sequence and email it to me at ___________________
Thanks!
To keep this thread going... I got the bin and I can change the keynumbers with no problems on the subclip. Be sure to be in a film based 3 perf project just in case.
One thing, I recently noted that if a bin is slightly overlapped by something like an audio mix tool or the effects palette, it won't accept any entries in any column. The bin needs to be "in plain sight". Not sure if that's a bug or a feature.
Have double checked the project settings (35mm, 3-perf, audio transfer at film rate),
My bin is not a superbin, and is isolated in the middle of my left-hand screen.
I can change keynumber start of master clips directly in the bin column, but this means the Avid updates keynumber end accordingly, and since my master clips are made up of the spliced-up labrolls this is not what I need...
As I said, I can re-import modified .ale files, but for some reason the updated keynumber metadata (other metadata seems to, have invented custom columns to check) is not then reflected in the reference clips in my sequences bins.
could it be a glitch or something? am running MC 3.0.1 on a mac...
As I said, I can work around it by match framing ever clip on the timeline, but it seems a bit clumsy.
Thank-you for all your help so far...
Very strange that I can change keynumbers on subclips with no probem. I am on v4.x.
hmm. perhaps i will upgrade.... :)
One more thing to try... keep your media drives offline and see if that changes any behavior.
Hmmm. Have tried with the media offline, but the same thing happens (ie nothing, just an error pop).
By the way, I am trying to change the data in the the KN Start column. IS this the one you have been referring to, too?
Thank-youuuuuu
