Hi
I am trying to apply different CC to the bottom and to the upper part of the screen. I tried to use composite node and a matte node but without result. Is this the correct approach and I miss something or this can be done in a different way?
Thanks,
Laurentiu
I attached a print screen.

There are often several ways to do similar things in DS.
Here is another way: I have created a CC for the top, with a shape in the first matte node to protect the top. Then I have fed that output into another color corrector. I have fed the output of the first matte node into the second CC, and the 'Masking' tab of the CC, I have inverted the matte.
Now I have 1 matte feeding both color correctors, so as I make changes to the matte, it will automatically reflect the changes in both CC's. Again, this is just one of many ways to do it.
Thanks Gus.
You are very helpful.
And if I want to keep my boat unaffected by the second color corrector ( Bottom) how can I do it?
I tried with another Matte node and a matte composite but...
You can put a 'Matte' node or a 'Graphics' node between the original matte and the second color corrector. In that node, do a garbage matte or rotoscope of the boat. But remember, you're going to be potentially inverting that matte in the second color corrector, so you might need to make sure the matte you draw is the opposite color of the matte for the bottom.
I just noticed something in your original screen grab. One of the CC nodes has a green tab on the upper right. That means it is in View mode - telling DS to show you that one element.
Is it possible that this is what was messing you up? That you were only looking at that CC and not the entire tree? This catches me many times. But I now look for this type of setting when things do not look as I expect them.

Laurentiu;
assuming you have the bottom of frame masked off already, i would try this; in the CC i would select secondaries, select blue of the water, and invert the selection leaving the boat seperate from the water... then you should be able to adjust the boat to taste using the tools in the secondaries.

Hi all, Thank you all for replies. I am a long time Fusion user so I find a little bit hard to change my way of thinking trees, using mattes etc. I tried all your suggestions and they worked. I was about to ask how can the graphics node affect Alfa channel till I find paint on alpha. Very neat. Also I find using secondaries a little bit imprecise, but perhaps useable in certain situations. If I was more fluent in English maybe I cold done a tutorial with this. Thanks again. Laurentiu

Hi Igor,
I know your tutorial about Avid DS Matte Protected CC, I was interested to go a step forward.
Actually I saw all your tutorials (and tutorials made by others).
I think all DS beginners or not should be as thankful as I am to you and the others who give from their time to teach and share their knowledge. This is invaluable for people trying to learn DS.
Many thanks and I am looking forward to see more of them.
