I'm trying to import video from a flash drive into my Avid Xpress at my home. The video has been exported onto the flash drive from an Avid Newscutter. I have gotten errors when trying to import that video to Xpress such as: .mov is not supported, and MFX errors. I guess I'm looking for the proper settings on Newscutter when I'm exporting video onto the flashdrive. There has got to be a way to import video onto Xpress by way of a flashdrive from a Newscutter Avid, no? Could someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks.
You'd need to tell us first how the movie was exported. Is it a QT, WMV, AVI? If so, in what codec was the movie created?

These are video clips exported as Quicktime Reference. How can I find out the codec?

If you exported as a QTref, then you must also bring the media files that are being referenced (that's why it's called a "QTreference")

Yep, QT ref files are only pointers to the original media. If you want to transport those files, they need to be self contained movies.
So should I make these video clips into sequences? Is this what you mean by making them into self contained movies? Thanks by the way for the help.

Self-Contained means "non reference"
You will need to select a codec etc and export as a QT movie rather than QT Reference.
Ok, eport as a QT movie- got it. Should I just use the Avid DV codec? Or would you suggest another?
