How to import super low res to work with without media chugging?

Hello, I would like to know how to vastly down res footage on import so I can work with it seamlesly. Even when I importlow res small files they don't play properly and chug so I was wondering if there is a way I can do this?

Sure, just change the resolution on import. The lowest and easiest to play back is DV25.

Re: How to import super low res to work with without media chugging?

Ok great thanks very much. However for some reason the only ones I have to choose from under "video resolution" when I import are DNxHD 145 MXF, DNxHD 220 MXF, DNxHD 220X MXF, DVC Pro HD MXF, 1:1 MXF and 1:1 10b MXF.

Is there another place I would be able to change this to DV25?

In what project type? That sounds like HD. You won't get DV 25 in and HD project.

Switch the project type to SD under the Format Tab in the Project Window.  You'll then have SD resolution options.  See "Changing the Project Format" in the built-in HELP.

Also, what type of system are you on?  What's your storage?

If you're working in an HD project, it's not surprising to see some stuttering playback on certain storage or under-spec systems.
