running a QT ref through Compressor Mpeg 2 creates a white export

I hope you can save me again!  My boss is trying to make a high quality DVD with DVD Studio Pro from Media Composer 3.1.  We are exporting a QuickTime ref video at native dimension, audio mixdown, balcks in holes and rendering video effects.  When we export the ref qt trough Compressor at a high quality 30 min DVD mpeg 2 setting the resulting export is just white, no video.  What are we doing wrong?  He has used this setting before but it was for an HD project and I tried changing the settings to SD size but it still came out white.  He wants to bring it into DVD Studio Pro and make a faststart DVD.  Are we exporting out of the Avid wrong? I don't think so because the QT will play just fine alone.  It seems to be a problem with Compressor.  Any thoughts on the best Compressor settings?  It's an SD project, 3 min.  I could make an export on a different system that is running 3.5 if need be.

Why is there nothing by white?!?!

    Thanks again - you rock!

If the QTref file is playing fine, then there is something wrong in the Compressor setting. I'm not familiar with Compressor. You can try downloading MPEGstreamclip. We also use the now discontinued VisualHub.

Export from avid as a self contained QT (QT Movie, not QT reference) with Format as 'Custom, DV-PAL' or use MPEGstreamclip to make an Apple DV-PAL QT and then use either of these files in compressor (or go direct into DVDSP and let it handle the encoding).

Don't know why compressor seems to be picky sometimes, but the above will work, it'll just take a little bit longer than exporting a QT ref from Avid.
