I'm experiencing a 5 or 6 frame delay from live when I monitor video through my Mojo DX. Is this normal, and if it is, is here a way around it? Working live on set, DX gets iinput from Panasonic HVX 3ooo, 1080 59.94, monitoring output of dx live, with 'Panasonic 2600 monitor and seeing about a 5 or 6 second delay from live action in the monitor. Director is not pleased. Any way around this other than monitoring live signal directly and by-passing the DX, which is what I am now doing? Has nothiing to do with playback, just a delay from in to out through the DX. HDSDI input and output.
5-6 frame delay sounds about right for DX and Nitris classic because that is NOT a true pass through like you see in a VTR. That is a standard output, meaning it goes through the DX processing circuit before it goes out. If it was passthrough you would not need to have the Digitize Tool open in order to see incoming signal and Avid should have indicated the proper symbol (usually an arrow ( -->) from the input pointing to another BNC).
Why not loop out of the monitor instead or use a distribution amp?

Got it, never noticed the delay before. Using 4x4 hdsdi matrix switcher so I Simply switched the director's monitor to the live feed instead of the DX output. Just means another switch to remember when doing playback. One more question, why is there no audio delay available when doing HD vs the available delay wwith SD? The audio delay in the capturre tool only shows 0 in HD mode, but shows an open window when using my analog Mojo. Would be VERY helpful with HD capture as I have to use an outboard box for audio delay now.

The audio delay was a feature that was basically added because of the DVX100. That camera had an unforseen design flaw. In order to do the whole 24p DV thing it introduced up to 1.5 frame delay between the audio and video stream. Avid allowed you to compensate for it with this feature so you stay in-sync when you remove the pulldown from a 60i/23.98p stream. Your captured media would stay sync'd. It does not affect the signal coming out of the Avid hardware during monitoring.
