Frame rate is one problem with the SD approach.
Whether you're working in 25fps or 29.97fps your RED footage is likely to be shot at 24fps or 23.98fps.
In N. America for example that means that you have to use 3:2 pulldown in the MXF footage. This is all fine, Media Composer can deal with it superbly but it just adds another layer of complexity to an already complicated process.
Add pulldown, remove pulldown, etc. It increases the margin of error.

This is also on the list - it is not a matter of actually creating media with pulldown only to remove it - but a metadata change to make it think it "had" pulldown and PAL or NTSC timecode. MetaCheater has this feature via ALE, but doing it via MXF wrapped DNxHD takes a little more work.
