Hi Avid Gurus,
I am using Avid Media Composer 3.5 in PAL land. The project contains a whole heap of media imported as 1:1 HD (1920 x 1080).
I wish to export this sequence to tape using the "Digital Cut" feature. However, when I try and print it to tape it says:
" You have selected SD digital cut of a sequence containing HD media. You must transcode this sequence to SD before continuing. "
If I click OK, it opens up a transcode window. Now, I'm just wondering, if I select 1:1 as a transcode option, will it transcode the 1:1 HD to 1:1 SD (720 x 576)?
Obviously I will try this myself to see - but as the project is massive, it will take some time to transcode it all... In the meantime, I'm hoping one of you will be able to answer, so that I don't have to cancel and do it all again!
Thanks in advance...
Best Regards, Chris!
Ummm... it seems that selecting 1:1 from the transcode list doesn't convert 1:1 HD to 1:1 SD...
I guess I'll have to convert it to DV to do the export... Unless anyone else has any ideas?
Do a video mixdown of your timeline at SD 1:1
Duplicate your timeline and edit in the mixdown so it deletes all existing video layers.
or
Export a QT reference of your timeline. Use Sorenson to convert to Avid SD 1 to 1 QT movie. Do a fast import of
that file into a 1 to 1 project.
Thanks for the continued dongle support
Well, I tried transcoding it to DV50, but no joy! For some reason, Avid has only transcoded some of the footage - it left out a couple of clips, and didn't transcode any of the rendered stills or effects.
Any ideas?
Thanks Andrew... I'm going to try the video mixdown option now... First I'll try 1:1, but I have a strange feeling that it will give me a HD 1:1 and not a SD 1:1. Time will tell!
Luckily my predictions were wrong, and using the Video Mixdown tool worked a treat! Thanks Andrew!
Change your project to SD before you start. (You can change it back anytime after you have finished with SD)
Good luck
Edit add Glad it worked for you
Even though it's a HD project, it's always been set to SD so that I can watch it on my preview monitor via the Mojo. For some reason having it set to SD didn't seem to affect the settings of the transcode window (when launched via the Digital Cut tool), but it did when you did a Video Mixdown. Strange!
