I am running Avid Media Composer 3.5.4 on a PC. I capture directly via firewire from my standard definition Sony camcorder. I import jpeg photos as well. All the media goes in DV25 411 whether captured or imported. When I output I go through RCA plugs from the standard definition mojo to a sony dvd recorder. The problem I am experiencing is that there is a "blink" or hiccup, if you will, during all the 30 frames dissolves between photos in a montage sequence. I've experienced this twice now on 2 different projects. I've had to copy over all my media and bring my project to a facility that has an adrenaline and then the "blinks" are no longer there. Why would the mojo do this and what can I do to solve it? When I output back onto my sony camcorder via firewire, this does not occur either. It's only through the mojo. I create very simple standard definition dvd's and I bought the mojo so that I could create simple dvd's. Any suggeston?
hi
just a guess: the fotos you imported, are they in the timeline with an AVID Pan+Zoom effect?
I stopped using that, because the system gets very slow if you use more then, say2 fotos. Appearently that effect uses a lot of RAM
after I made all foto pan+zooms in AFX and imported as QT, everything went smooth
ever tried w/o pan+zoom?
in my oppinion, they could just drop that effect, its useless

It's hard to say what would cause this issue, but a possible solution would be to do a video mixdown of your track with the dissolves and then output the mix down. MC and Mojo should see this as a single media stream. Not an answer as to why you're having this problem, but this at least should be easier than carrying your project to another facility.
Have you rendered all your FX?
Magus -Thank you for your reply. I don't have any zooms or push-ins on the photos. The only effects are the 30 frame dissolves. But I appreciate your input. I resize my photos in Picasa before I import them so I don't have to resize in Avid. Because I am outputting directly to DVD (essentially 1:1) any resize makes the image look blurry so I try to import them the way I want them to look. I am going to power cycle the mojo and try a video mixdown next. -Karen
Thank you. That's a great suggestion. I am going to try the video mixdown tonight.
