I'm sure the answer is probably no, but I thought I'd ask.....anyone got anything on this?
Thanks as usual guys and gals!

Sorry, but I'm not sure what the question is. Do you mean replace footage on your timeline, swap out footage linked in, or footage captured from tape?

to swap footage thats linked. Like I did a wow edit of some animation and the client may want a different background in the whole show. I was curious if I could have our artist re-render the clips with the same name and parameters and just select the updated clips and have them automatically be replaced in the timeline. Hopefully that explains it a bit better...thanks
If the linked files indeed use the very same name and length, yes, just moved the original files out of its current location (better keep them as a backup, in case you need them again, right?) and replace these files. DS will link to the new material and display the images.
Even for captured files, if you use the same format, size and length, you can purge the media and recapture the new content.

thanks so much Sylvain. Great help
If you are using linked clips as opposed to captured clips your timeline material is constantly udpated. DS will be loading whatever rendered frames are available at the time. Even in a middle of a render.
If you process any parts of the timeline that contain linked clips you will need to purge the caches in order to force DS to look at the original files instead of the caches.
