    Re: Media Composer 4.0.2 Released

    Hi,

    22Video:
I cannot find where to resize the the time line (zoom function)

Same little box at the bottom of the timeline window where it's always been.

    22Video:
I cannot find where to enable the clip frames in the timeline

Pretty sure this is still in the hamburger menu at the bottom left of the timeline window where it's always been, too.

Perhaps you've got the timeline window configured so you can't see the bottom of it?

    good luck,
    Carl

The function is mappable to your keyboard so you can use whatever keys you like. The default is CMD+"[" and CMD+"]".  The headframes are found under the Timeline's fast menus in the bottom-left corner.

There's really not a way for it to be missing as it is a permanent part of the GUI. Look at the bottom of the timeline, just to the left of the Quality button. It looks like a hamburger.

    Re: Media Composer 4.0.2 Released

When I installed the demo version I had a similar problem.  Turned out the timeline was scaled too high, and pushed the bottom icons off the screen.  A timeline resize fixed the issue, but it's starting to look like it could be a characteristic of the software.

I don't understand the logic or fairness to customers by restricting the download period to Sep 30th.  We had problems accessing the page.  Can Avid clarify?

Hi TM, what would you like clarified? The Amnesty programs to upgrade for free are usually about a month long. This particular program was announced and the expiration date was on all the announcements here and on the website and press releases.

What problems did you have accessing the page? We haven't had any particular problems reported to either Marianna or me. If there were, we'd have them fixed ASAP.

Drop me an email and we'll do al that we can to help you out. Not sure what we can do but we'll sure try.

    TMVC,

The protect page went live over 2 weeks ago and while there was an issue with the page -took under 24 hours to fix - customers that were entitled had until yesterday to download.  We extended it a few days for the stragglers.

You mention you had problems....   did you ultimately download?   If you didnt, send me an email directly and I can assist - makre sure you include the system ID's on the systems entitled.

Ok - I'm not entitled to a free upgrade so this is a totally unbiased opinion. I don't think 2 -3 weeks is anywhere near long enough - typically even microsoft gives you 6 months. I think it is especially short considering the official release date for v4.0 was not until Sept 30.

Marianna - terrific communication as always, but perhaps you could look at this and get the period extended by at least two months - after all the qualification period doesn't need to change. To call people stragglers is a bit harsh when you hadn't even officially reached your launch window.

    Re: Media Composer 4.0.2 Released

    Hi,

Maybe this is a detail, but why didnt avid change their logo on MC4?

It would have been the ideal moment, new version, new logo, let's combine these two.
Ok, it only applies on the start-up screen, the logo on the timeline and the icons and shortcuts,
but it would have been a nice detail, no?

Maybe I am thinking too much corporate (part of my job) and less cost-effective...

    Re: Media Composer 4.0.2 Released

Mixing frame rates and formats in real time with no rendering - BRILLIANT. And don't even get me started with using clip colors to instantly see which clips are which rate - and OMG the "modify" tool to create a duplicate sequence at a different frame rate - awesome. AND loving that 16 track audio mixer.

Marianna, please pass along my compliments to the chefs. Smile
