MXF file names and finding media without clips

If I know the names of the original MXF files of the clips I want. Can I find the media from within avid or create an ALE that I can import to a bin which will relink to the existing media?

    Struggling so far

I am not sure sure I understand what you are trying to accomplish. Original mxf are the mediafiles!

If you have lost the connection between the clips in your bin/timeline and the media they appear as "offline" (red on the timeline if the clipcolor is set so). A relink (preferably after a unlink) should solve the problem.

What was ingested? what kind of media that is?
