Please can anyone help by suggesting a good way to convert various media types into something Avid MC likes.
I currently am trying to get WMF into avid.
Many thanks

I like procoder from grass valley. It can convert your WMV to a quicktime movie using the avid codec. You can "fast import" that .mov in mc then.
Udo
The bundled Squeeze will convert to QT Avid codec too.

Hi Luca, thanks for the reply, i wonder do you have any suggestions as to the encodng settings that would work well for the wmv to mov conversion for importing into avid MC.
Many thanks for your help.
Tim
Hi Tim,
The encoding settings depend on what kind of project type you're editing. SD? HD? PAL? NTSC? 24p? 1080i? 720p? Let us know what your project type is, and we can suggest some ideas for your WMV conversion settings.
good luck,Carl
There is no such thing as a video emergency. My Demo Website
also, the codec used by your mediafile is of interest, do a google for gspot or mediainfo and do a test, some wmv codecs as the new advanced VC1 codecs are fully supported, fast imports, into MC
Tomas
give us the iso files back in Avid Dvd please, no gi files for me
The project is SD PAL 720 576 and the WMV will not import into Avid.
Many thanks Tim
What version of Squeeze ?
v4.5
With 5,1,1,6 I use the quicktime profile and set that to Avid Dv codec, aspect same as source, and then go up to advanced settings and make sure that Pal Interlaced 420 is selected.
For audio I choose little endian 48 khz, 16 bits stereo
Not sure about the filter settings in 4,5 however.
