I'm running Avid Media Composer 3.0.5 and EDL Manager 24.0.5 on a Mac. Normally EDL Manager works great, however, on a current project, I'm running into issues.
The project was created in 3.0.5, but most of the editing has taken place on another Avid Media Composer 2.8.0 Mac. The footage is RED material that was imported into Avid as DNxHD36 Quicktime's that came via REDrushes. We do this workflow all the time, and we've never had any issues.
If I click Output > EDL, then click - - - > I get the following fatal error:
"Bus error" in thread "MainThread", at address 0x0
If I do exactly the same thing on Avid 2.8.0 and 3.5, it works fine.
Is this just a 3.0.5 bug? Is there any workaround?
Thanks for your time!
Best Regards, Chris!
After a bit of further testing... it seems as if the EDL Manager doesn't like some of the speed effects in the sequence... Ummm....
I too had this some time ago- I think recreating speed changes sorted it,
or if you have access to another avid configuration, it may work.

Are you using the RED16 template for your EDL? That allows for 16-character reel names, which is necessary for RED clips.
It should be on the Avid RED page.

Thanks for your replies!
Yes - I was using the RED16 template - however that wasn't the issue. EDL Manger can comfortably export standard CMX3600's EDLs out of a RED Avid project (it just chops off the end of the tape name).
The issue was in fact the speed effects. The only way around it was to export the EDLs on the Avid that was being used to cut the piece. It seems some effects just arn't backwards compatible - although the newer versions of Avid seem to fix these issues.
So in the end, it's just a 3.0.5 qwerk!
