please qualify as many machine models as possible.

It's a matter of resources. Look at FCP, they only have a few machines and one in house OS to qualify... and they still have issues.

    Todd Sanderson:

Try it Eric!  I've routinely got Avid, AE, PS, Soundbooth, Encore, Bitvice, Cleaner, Transmit, Firefox, Preview, Word, Text Edit and QuickTime open and operating behind the scenes all at once.  It's a beautiful blend of productivity!

LOL, if my boss saw all them apps running at the same time then Id be booted out of the studio ;) we have other workstations for that :) The only we have running in the back is the BlackMagic app for video switching.

I've seen FCP running on almost every Mac, including white imacs, but I don't care for it anyway.

What I'm talking about anyway is

    a) Make sure that previous machines running MC3.5 can in fact upgrade to MC4

    b) Offer enough of a choice, esp. w/ mobile computers where you're stuck w/ the hardware.

    c) Please test out some Lenovos!  I'd love to switch back to PC if I could edit on a Thinkpad Smile

Now, I know that not all machines can be tested, I know that qualifying machines take but frequent and timely updates help the customer, and I would infer is good to keep a healthy market share.

    ok, thanks.

a small correction-- in my post above i meant to say white macbooks, not imacs.

Same goes for Avid. Have been running that on a black unsupported MacBook.

Usually that is the case, except some older models at some time will fall of the chart. My Powerbook G4 came along for a long time, but eventually was no longer supported. Makes sense to me.

I think there's quite a bit of choice. And as far as I can tell, as long as the laptop meets the basic system requirements, it will run MC just fine, supported or not.
