HD Monitor; Do I need a MOJO???

    Hi,

Do I need a mojo to view HD projects on an HD computer monitor? If my computer monitor is HD wouldn't that be enough to see captured P2 clips and projects in HD form? Wouldn't the full screen playback be in HD? Thanks!

Your computer monitor isn't a broadcast monitor, and in Avid your computer monitor is only showing you one field at a time, while it's output is full-rez. If you can afford a mojo, do it. There are other ways to do it (firewire out to camera, looped to monitor for example) but you will end up with sync issues. Perhaps someone else has other ideas.

One important addition to Scotts answer, for HD you need Mojo DX. Mojo Analog and Mojo SDI does not work with HD.

HP xw4600, 3.2Mhz, 4Gb RAM, Mojo. 500GB SATA Bootdrive, 3x500GB internal raid-0 for video, Windows xp sp3, MC3.05, Genelec 1030A, JVC TM-H170. [view my complete system specs]

And another important addition, the Avid only shows one field when paused. Both fields are dislplayed during playback.

    Hi,

Do I need a mojo to view HD projects on an HD computer monitor? No.

If my computer monitor is HD wouldn't that be enough to see captured P2 clips and projects in HD form? Yes, if it is full size 1080X1920 and your video card will drive the monitor.

Wouldn't the full screen playback be in HD? Thanks! Yes, Full screen playback will playback in HD

However, I would not trust Color correction with this method. But it works for viewing.

I don't think that's true when it plays back on your computer monitors, only on the output.
