Hi, I have a recording for a wedding but unfortunately during part of the recording there is a low frequency hum on the sound track, Is there an effect in MC 3.5 which might help filter this out.
Regards
Fred

Hello
I use Adobe Audition (I think it is called SoundBooth now) quite effectively.
It does require you to export the audio track out of MC - import it into Audition - clean up the sound - export it from Audition and re-import it into MC, but it works

In MC with your timeline active you could try the Audio EQ Tool>Fast Menu dropdown>NTSC or PAL Hum Buster. If that doesn't work try one of the 3 or 4 band EQ's in there and find the offending frequency. Good luck.

That's right...an xw8000.
Download the free trial version of Adobe Sound Booth (formally Audition) - it has a very good noise reduction function.
Audacity also has a nice noise removal feature.

Audacity works well, there is also an app within the nero suite 'wavelab" I think its called, works well too.

I was trying Audicity but it crashes when importing a DV clip. It does not seperate the audio from the video automatically. How do I seperate the audio from the video?
select audio tracks only in MC and in the export box check the selected tracks only or export audio only option!

Audio EQ Tool won't open. All other audio tools open no problem, but not EQ. Any idea why not?

There's a few eq tools in the DAE engine too.

I have played wit the EQ Tool and was able to identify the frequency of the hum. I could deemphasize most of it but I would be more happy if I could get 10 dB less. Is there a possible tool within MC to do this.
What is DAE engine, which luca was suggesting?
the dae engine is the audio fx that come with avid but dont waist your time with them they are poor at best
out put your sound trks to a wav file and fix outboard on a sound pgm i use sound forge it also has a good noise reduction tool

OK, but within MC there is no possibility to reduce a certain frequency with more then 20 dB??
