    BLKDOG:

Pricing information will not be released until very close to the time the software is. We will have information for you but it will be in the next couple of weeks, not this far out. Thanks for the patience.

The release date was posted as Sept. 30 - that's 10 days from now. Marianna stated that she would have upgrade pricing 'next week' (which was last week). Has the release date changed? That would certainly explain why you talk about it as 'this far out'.

    Re: Introducing Media Composer 4!

    You misunderstood me Steve.

What I meant is to have only positive thoughts about everything as possible as we can.

How ever you have all the right in the world to have any negative thoughts you want.

It's just that I don't like negative thoughts. In the end sorry if I expressed it too harsh.

I was about to purchase 3.5 acamdemic version today from a reseller but eventually he told me that the academic version is not eligible for the free 4.0 upgrade.

    So what's the truth?

    thanks

    Re: Introducing Media Composer 4!

If you buy today you WLL be eligible for the free ugrade (From what I'm told. Watch 'em change it after I post this Wink). However, if you can be patient for just a few more days, you can purchase 4.0 directly and get 4 YEARS of free support.

Great, thanks for the update :)

So from what i've understood from the website: if the purchase was made on or after march we are eligible for the upgrade and 4 years support.

Time to spend some green ;)

    Re: Introducing Media Composer 4!

Can I ask a naive question?  I'm newly back to Avid world after a few years away, and bought a non-academic version of 3.5 registered in late June.  Am I going to have to pay for a full upgrade, when if I had an academic version I'd be getting it for free?  Or is my upgrade fee going to be on some sliding scale?

    Re: Introducing Media Composer 4!

Will there be some sort of info (whitepapers, pdfs, videos?) showing off the new features in detail?  I have a good number of questions about them and I would rather hold off installing a demo version of MC on my machine for fear it might mess with my current version.
