when refering to the panasonic cam AVC. That means only panasonic cameras.... I do have a Canon with AVC files and I transfer them to QT DNxHD
Yes but you don't have the MC4 to try it.
I mean we don't know full details yet.
Or you do?

My Films
No. I have AMC 3.1.3.... But anyways I do transfer all my footage into DNxHD because I color correct, composite and VFX with another software. I only use MC for editing.
I just finished editing my new short and color corrected (where needed) inside MC.
It looks great to me.
Anyways,
it would be good to have Canon's AVC also supported at 4!
I would very much like the ability to import Panasonic AVCHD (.mts) files. Transcoding on import is acceptable. Pre-transcoding before import is annoying. Especially when other nameless editing applications already support AVCHD.
Will you be burning Blue-Ray DVD's?
sverkalo: I think Sylvain will be happy about this version if his Panasonic is supported natively.

Yes, I would be happy if it was AVCHD files, but it is clearly written "Panasonic AVC-Intra format".
Unfortunately, AVC-Intra is for bigger cameras like the HPX300, etc. My HMC150 uses the AVCHD that is an inter-frame coded, and not an intra-frame.
It is not the same thing. MC must support AVCHD files.

It sounds close Sylvain.
Yeah - AVC-Intra and AVCHD are competely different.
AVCHD is a difficult format to deal with I believe. In theory it was a joint-development between Sony and Panasonic (alarm bells already?) but somehow neither company's implementation is compatible with the other. I have no idea if Canon's is compatible with either Sony or Panasonic.
The best hopes for AVCHD seem likely to be that Quicktime could support it, enabling direct import. Or, if the gods are smiling on us, an AMA plugin for AVCHD!! :)

Full RED and Canon 5D support in MC 4?
Experience cannot be taught or learnt!
jjvr: Full RED and Canon 5D support in MC 4?
Isn't Canon 5D just 264 codec quicktime?
And RED support won't happen until RED and Avid comes together and create support of proxyfiles through AMA.And when speaking to them about it both says the other is the one who should make the first move. From what I know the only way to make native possible is to have a RED codec that works for PC and AMA with r3d or r3d proxy support. Native R3D will likely never happen, Red is in too deep with Apple and there are so many third party companies who make money on the difficulty of Red workflow with Avid.
Time is running out and Red One is getting huge in the industry. Almost everyone I work with is working with Red.Red workflow is a major drawback to Avid and they need to be more willing to create a superfast workflow as FCP has.
The paradox is that Avid always say they are more interested in creating something good for the "big business" top people in the film and tv-industry. Then why do they focus so much attention to cameras with AVCHD and cameras like the HVX200? It makes more sense to focus on Red because the "Big people" is now using it on films like Knowing and District 9.
Change, it needs to change for sure.

What is full RED support in your opinion? The MetaFuze route works well.
