I'm going to be receiving graded takes exported from an iQ as DPX files to seperate folders.

Previously, I was able to easily then conform from these files using afe/edl's.
Last time the facility manually added the source TC when exporting from the iQ. (Source TC is lost when the grades are rendered/exported to files)

This time however due to the amount of material (i.e. it'll take to long for them) they're unwilling to add source TC to the exported DPX's.

Couple of questions...

Any chance that it'll still conform without embedded TC?

Could I add the TC myself to the DPX headers using the DS or another program and then conform?

If you are running Avid DS 10+, you need to use DPX with timecode information in order to link them for real-time playback.  Or you can capture them to convert to GEN material (HD RGB and higher formats).

Could I capture the dpx's to gen and then manually add/modify TC and set Source Roll #, like in avid.

Would an imported edl/afe then link? (if the metadatas right off course)

For others in a similar situation, the obvious answer is to use some software to restamp the timecode.
