    Deko 3D to AVI

    Hi all

We are currently (still) running Deko v5.0 on our 3000s whilst waiting for them to be upgraded to v5.2

A question I have for anyone using v5.2 out there - is it possible to use the Deko 3d motions and render them out to a file (such as AVI or MXF) for playback on Dekocast?

The v5.0 software raises an exception any time you try using a 3d motion unless you are actually in the motion editor.  I can't make it render this to a file.

I really want to be able to use 3d objects within a sequence, and then playback that sequence to an external file.  Is this possible with the new software?

    Cheers,

    Stuart.

    Re: Deko 3D to AVI

I'll reply to my own post now as we've just installed the upgrade.

It is possible to record 3d scenes played out via the sequencer using Deko 'make movie' plus Deko can also output both key & fill which is very nice!

I have to say the v5.2 (build 8477-1) software seems to be a BIG step up from v5.0 - there are a lot of interesting tweaks I'm coming across & the Deko interface looks to have been tidied up too.  Thanks to the people at Avid who are responsible for all this!

    Stu.

Thats great. I'm glad you were able to accomplish what you needed here. Would you be interested in speaking with our Marketing folks about Deko 5.2 benefits for your facility/workflow?

If so, please email me directly: teicia.gaupp@avid.com
