Batch Import (more than one at a time)

    Hello and Happy New Year.

I lost media on several AIFF files in my project.  I have the media on a CD and I'm using batch import to bring them back online.  I select the clip in the bin go to batch import, then set the file location, then navigate to the file on the CD (I actually copied the files from the CD to a desktop folder) then hit batch and it restores the clip for me.

The only problem is this only works one clip at a time as far as I can see.  I have also tried relinking, but it doesn't work.

    Any thoughts on a better--quicker--workflow.

    Tot Ziens,

    Jennifer

Have you tried selecting multiple items in the bin THEN hitting Batch Import?  It'll list them all in the window and when you select Set File Location as long as the file name it's looking for matches the file name at the new location it will find them all.

Yes, I have tried selecting more than one.   When I go to select more than one file location (more than one file) I can't.  If select one when I select a second the first one becomes unselected....and yes I hold shift when I try to select more than one.  I've also tried holding, command, option, etc..

That is where I get stuck.  It simply won't let me select more than one file at a time when it comes to file location selection?????

    Any other thoughts?

    Ah I understand now.

You want to be able to select FileA, FileB, and FileC in the Import dialog box and choose their locations all at one time...

The reason this won't work that way is that FileA needs to be pointed to the location of FileA, FileB needs to be pointed to the location of FileB and so on.

If you CTRL+A to select all of the files in the dialog box then choose Set File Location it should ask you to point to the first file, then after locating it, IF the other files are named the same as what they are in the location your setting, then they will locate as well.

**Be careful though that FileB, C, D etc doesn't get associated with FileA's location**

Got it.  In fact, I chose offline items and picked any one of the clips in the bin and it matched them all up.  Thanks so much.  One of our techs had called Avid and they couldn't even solve this mystery.

    You guys are THE best!!!!
