For some reason when I'm trying to import an XDCAM clip, I get this error:
XDCamStreamReader::Read - Error reading from essence
it also says to look at the console for more info. It says it "failed to write essence" and "failed to write index table to file."

Spencer:In the import tool options XDCAM tab, de-select "import essence marks as locators" and try again.

thanks for the suggestion but I don't have an XDCAM tab in the import option. I'm running MC 3.5.4. Could it be somewhere else?Spencer
Not sure on that. I don't have 3.5.4 here to check it on. Mine shows it in the import tool options.
i think I do remember seeing that when we went to 3.0 but then it must've went away when we went to 3.5. It's got to be in there somewhere. I'll look in the help.
Thanks!
it IS there in 3.5.4 (MC/PC) SETTINGS -> IMPORT -> XDCAM -> 5th point: Import Essence Marks as Locators
I definitely have no XDCAM tab in the import settings. Could there be something else that's different about this system that would affect that? Very strange.
hm.... at least in my version, it's there. have you tried to reinstall the app?
have you tried to enable / disable AMA?
Hm, that's an option. no, I haven't tried that. Thanks!
You might want to post your question on the active Media Composer forum. The forumyou are on now are for vintage (hardware based) systems like Meridien/ABVB, etc
Spencer:
Tell me if you're on PC or Mac and I'll move this thread to the appropriate MC Forum.
Thanks for your suggestions!
I still need to check out the AMA thing but it seems to be working now. Thanks Larry, but no need to move this over to the proper thread. I will keep that in mind for the future. I didn't realize I was posting on the wrong one.
