Or at least let us have the choice. They can't cost too much to make. Put them in the box and let users choose. I have 3 avids and only one has a dongle. I wish I could have a dongle for each. I would even pay to have one on my systems without one.

    Re: back to hardware dongle

I am in complete agreement. I have 14 Media Composers to manage and we frequently move dongles around as our needs change. I now also have to keep a database of who has which system and what the activation codes are.  Also, whenever a system starts acting weird we reimage the entire machine.  What's happens if we forget to de-authorize a machine and it's 10:00 pm on a Friday night?  Will the authorization code work on another machine?

    Thanks.

It has been stated here that MC4 will continue to have the dongle as an option. (without requiring a service contract).

How that could work for people who opted to change to SA but now wish to revert to their old dongles could be a complex issue to administer

Thanks for the continued dongle support

I have two software activated suites. Anyone with a dongle want to swap?

One version 4, One version 3.5.1 but I would upgrade to 4 to make this work.

Also I have pluggins (Speed Ramp by 3 Prong) which only work with one Dongle. Rather than buying 3 copies I would like to move it between suites. Can't do that with software activated copies.

You'd still have to pay to transfer the licences anyway.
