Hi all
I am building a new i7 system.
I am looking for a good solid card that work good with MC and XPRESS PRO
Till now I have AMD 4200 with GeForce 6600 so any card will be an improvment :)
I know that FX1800 is better, but I have no money ...
What is the best choice for AVID from this cards ?
Any other Idea in this price limit?
Thanks,
Ady.
Anyone please?
Nobody knows what the best low budget card for MC ?
adys,
I will always agree with the idea to get an AVID qualified system. That being said I am running MC3.5 at home on a Q6600 Intel quad, Vista home prem 32 bit, 4 gigs of ram (windows sees 3 of them) and a Nvida 8600. I built it for gaming and have done very little to date with MC. my Plan is to get a qualified Mac at some point. Basically MC opens and I can capture and edit. I have not pushed it. I get dual monitor and full screen play back. Every thing I have done so far has been DV25 411. I have not tried HDV or HD yet.And I have no I/O hardware other than my DV camara.
Again if you can go off AVID's list you will have the best chances for success and I make no promises you will have the same success building a system that I did. Mine was for personal use and I am not staking a business on it. I have my work system for all that.
Best regards,
John
I Currently Use the FX580 and it works great with MC. However if you do a lot of After affects work you may want to consider the 260.
Thanks
All my system spec is Avid certified, I have issues only with the graphic card..
will the 260 will work with MC with no problems?
I do some AE from time to time, but mostly AVID SD.
Will CS4 products as will work good enough with the 580 ?
Thanks again for any help
The 260 should work fine. The thing to avoid is "pushed" gaming cards, that is cards that have their GPU and memory pushed to the edge for max frame rates. Often these are referred to as "factory OC'd" or factory overclocked.
Trial MC3.5, Using AL7.2 pro, Boris FX, DVDit6proHD, CCE Basic, TmpGe Express4, TmpGe Authoring Works 4, DVDLab-Studio. Canon XH-A1, GL2, GL1
I still don't understand, what is the preferred card from those two cards?
Adys,
These are all educated guesses. Gaming cards may work but are not programmed the same as the FX series workstation cards. I had an AVID Tech support person explain to me the difference is that a gaming card is like a race car. burst of speed and lots of processing fast. The workstation card is built like a Mack truck. Its there for the long haul. Long stread continouse predictable processing. The results will vary widely on performance. I am not a Mac guy but at our office I may advocating Mac's for our next round of workstations just because how simple they are to configure with all the recommend hardware from Avid. My home system was a result of me downloading the 14 day trial to see if it would work. I know this still doesnt answer your question but I hope it helps you weigh your options. But any one here will still recommend working from the Avid list of recommended machines. There are some lower end boxes if you plan to just run software only.
