hi , my name is Santy , im editing on avid (all versions) for donkeys yrs . i ve worked on all different types of software ( from dvision ,edit, vegas , media 100 , adobe premier, N npw FCP etc ) but they dont even come a long wayto avid . i can edit videos and composite them (just using paint & animatte tools) in such a way that even smoke artist find it difficult to do. i sleep eat and breath avid. I live in Bombay the media, films, and financial capital of INDIA. we make 10 times more films than hollywood does .thats the quantum of workload we have. Even Ad films, corporates, AV's, documentaries, short films u name it we make it agalore. since ages we ve used mostly AVIDS for our work . But now... FCP has literally taken over . Y? not that its a great software ,no really not (except for its video resolution which is far better then avid, its priciing(its much cheaper than avid), its quick avaibility(it takes only 4 days to come wheras avid takes weeks), and its open ness to accept any format. )otherwise avid is far superior software than FCP infact im now literally jobless because of FCP, i cant work on FCP as its difficult for me to adjust on FCP as my fingers and mind cant think beyond avid. but pls cant u do anything about it ? pls get the resolution as good as FCP or even better, lower down the rates to FCP or just a tich above and give good services . sorry to say ur dealers here in bombay are not upto it . i need a job, ive a family to look after , loans to pay man pls do something !!! im not the only one there are lots of guys like me but im one of the best amongst them. pls heed tothis plea guys and WAKE UP ur market has been eaten by FCP
thanks

Hi Santy,
First of all welcome to the forum! Second, this forum is for sending your customer stories to Avid. Third, there are about 1,000 discussions on here regarding Avid's failings and what they should do to correct them. I'd suggest doing a forum search or having a bit of a look around and participating in one of those discussions.
good luck,Carl

And if you're smart, you'll take the time to learn FCP - the more skill sets you have in today's media world, the better you can market yourself. And that goes for Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, and Sorenson Squeeze as well. Many Avid editors are learning or have already learned FCP for that very reason. If you've mastered Avid, you can master FCP as well. Don't be intimidated by it. Better to swim with the current than try to swim against it and drown.
