    Nvidia Profiles and KVM Extenders

We have jusy gone to version 10 and cannot get the graphics card profile to work with our KVM extenders. The supplied profile is a 3200 x 1200 desktop stretched over two screens. Our KVM supports 1600 x 1200 per screen but does not work with the two glued together. We can get DS running on a lower resolution but loose the realtime video overlay  (the source record monitors only update on pause) and I am locked out of the nVidia Control Panel bits needed to change this.

Any body else having these issues and anyone managed a modified profile?

Re: Nvidia Profiles and KVM Extenders

Is it set for 1600x1200 for each monitor?

And is "Extend my Windows desktop onto
this monitor" checked for monitor #2?

Otherwise try 1280x1024 to see if that works,
even if you get a degraded quaity on the
monitors. Just to see if it's the profile
    that's causing this behaviour.

Re: Nvidia Profiles and KVM Extenders

We have another problem in that the monitors are not 1600x1200 native. I have had a partial fix in that I have got a 2560 x 1024 profile working. The trick was in selecting which monitor takes the lead. I think the KVM has a timing issue; If you send two seperate screens at 1280 x 1024 then the KVM is happy, send one stretched desktop of 2560 x 1024 then I get a frequency out of range error. Just for the hell of it I set Monitor 2 as the stretched desktop and it started working. Now the only problem is a few buttons appear off the bottom of the screen so will have to buy those 1600x1200 monitors.

    Cheers,

    Algie

Re: Nvidia Profiles and KVM Extenders

If you're feeding 2560x1024 to a KVM that only can
cope with max. 1600x1200 I guess you're heading
for trouble. And even if the KVM could handle it
I guess the monitor would "choke".

And the buttons that isn't visible at the bottom.
Can you estimate how much is gone?
Is it like the height of the taskbar, or?

And where does the need for running a 3200x1200
resolution come in the first place? And what hardware
are you running v10 on and what are those monitors
    native (ie. max) resolution?

The Avid DS supported monitor resolutions for interface display are as follow:

    One 4 by 3 single monitor:  1280 by 1024

One 30 inches HP LP3065 single monitor:  2560 by 1600

Two 4 by 3 monitors: 2560 by 1024 (NVIDIA type)

Two 4 by 3 monitors: 1280 by 1024 (ATI type)

We do not support 1600 by 1200 or other types of resolution, so you are on your own building and maintaining these types of display.
