How do I change colors of clips in timeline?

I know you can set up avid to show the clips as different colors in the time line based on source, or off line.

But I just want to highlight/color a clip in the timeline just so I can make it stand out. Like if its a cut I don't like or if its something I want to change later on, I want to give that clip a certain color in the time line so I can see it easy among the rest.

Go Timeline fast menu, active the local color

Use segment mode to mark the clip, after go to main menu and change whatever color you want

The main menu  is : Edit / Set Local Clip Color

I'm on 8.8.4 and this menu item does not exist. I can only access it via right click but I need the menu command for a macro.

    Any ideas?

Re: How do I change colors of clips in timeline?

This is what I see in the manual but can't find the "Set Local Clip Color" from the Edit Menu in MC 2018.10.

You can assign local colors to clips in the Timeline — for example, to indicate clips that you want to group together or to make clips stand out while you work in the Timeline.

To assign a local clip color:

    1. Click the Timeline Fast Menu button, and select Clip Color. The Clip Color dialog box opens.

    2. Select Timeline Local, and then click OK.

    3. Select one of the segment tools in the Timeline palette, and select a clip you want to color.

    4. Do one of the following:

Select Edit > Set Local Clip Color > color to select a standard color.
Select Edit > Set Local Clip Color > Pick to select a custom color from the Windows Color

    dialog box.
The assigned local color appears in the clip in the Timeline.
