My Express Pro 5.7 stalled when initializing audio. I uninstalled everything but forgot Pro Tools. I upgraded to Express Pro 5.8. It works fine. I cannot install Pro Tools or use the Digi 002 from Express Pro. The Pro Tools hangs on installation. I have: uninstalled and tried re-installing everything several times. I have run PT Nuke, Reg Cleaner to delete Dididesign registry entries, deleted Digidesign program folders, and everything else I could find to uninstall ProTools and the Digi002. Nothing works! Pro Tools will not install. Any ideas?
Is this a new install or a reinstall? i.e. did you have it working before on the same computer?
What audio card?
Please clarify, "I uninstalled everything but forgot Pro Tools."

This is a reinstall. It was working previously on this computer.
Audio card: Realtek HD Audio
I uninstalled all of the studio elements in order to install the new Express Pro 5.8. But I forgot to uninstall Pro Tools. When I was reinstalling all of the programs, the computer hung on the Pro Tools reinstallation. As it continues to do now.
First, I would try uninstalling everything again and install Pro Tools first...
I had to confirm my hunch that this was the version that nixed Pro Tools compatibility...From the 5.8 readme:
"Pro Tools LE SupportProTools LE v7.3.1 has been qualified to coexist with Avid Xpress Pro on an Avid Studiosystem.Pro Tools LE v7.4 is not supported in an Avid Studio environment. Pro Tools LE v7.4 issupported for interoperability with the editing application but cannot coexist on the samesystem."
It might be a good time to upgrade to Media Composer... fwiw...

Would this explain why I am no longer able to use the Digi 002 with the editing application to control audio levels during an audio edit?
Yes... the digidriver is the culprit. It lost compatibility...but regained it with Media Composer 3.x. The good news is that it will now "officially" co-install.
Ahh! That explains it! Thanks for the response!
BCM CCIT,
find myself in a very similar situation... had to reinstall machine, tryign to get everything back to where i had it, which was running xpress 5.8 and using my digi 002 seamlessly with it...
now, have everything almost back, but cant get the 002 working within xpress and am becoming confident it is to do with the version of PT LE i am running (which i cant get any PT to load)
So the question becomes, did you get yours running and if so, by upgrading to what v. of PT LE? or were u able to get your system and 002 to work with composer? i thought that was not ye possible?
any help would sure be appreciated...
thanks-

Fwiw, Pro Tools 8.0 co-installs with Media Composer 3.x and higher.
