Hi everyone, got an odd situation...
Interplay 1.6 on ISIS 2.01 using MC 3.5.4.3
Editor checked a bunch of bins into interplay after re-naming the bins. project got re-replicated using back up background software, and original (un-renamed bins got checked in too) - dont ask me how I wasn't there at the time ;-)
Net result is though, that there are two sets of Bins with identical contents (or near identical) but different names. I cant just remove them without dealing/deleting the contests somehow. I dont want the seqs and mstr clips to be deleted...
Anyone found an elegant way of dealing with this?
thx in advance
graham
You're maybe overthinking it a bit.
You can place a reservation on the Interplay folders you want to keep, and then delete the other folders and all associated metadata. Make sure you only delete clips and sequences and NOT the associated media.
If anything you wanted to keep in Interplay disappears, then you can just check in all the properly named bins again.

Hi Rob, thanks for the reply, you are right I think I was overcomplicating it for myself - we are going to go down this route, will update how we get on...
I use this approace all the time to clean up projects checked in using an incorrect project path. There's nothing more irritating than having a sports program check into the middle of your hunting program and again in the middle of a documentary.
Make sure not to delete media, only meta data. That would be bad.
another approach which we have discussed but not implemented is when the job is done (and properly cleaned up) delete the folder from Interplay. Then open up job and re-check in all bins and sequences. This will keep your final cleaned up sequences and bins in your database in the correct more searchable order. Another thing is to create a delete me bin and color all clips in it blue. Anything blue in your project (no matter what bin its in) doesn't belong. Reservations on folders (you want to keep) seems like its a easier idea. I was unaware of this feature.
