I have almost filled up my F: Drive and G: Drive with Projects and Media Files.
I am able to backup/move all of these Media Files to my External G-Raid Drive with MediaMover 3.1.
However, this backup/move procedure does not increase any space on my F: Drive and G: Drive.
Since the files are now backed up on the External G-Raid -- how do I remove them from the F: Drive and G: Drive for space -- and, still be able to bring them back (at some future time) for use if I need to?
Media Tool no longer sees them for deletion and they now show as Media Off Line in the Bin.
If I delete/trash each individual file from within the Project's Bin I probably will get the space back. However, if I do that, and ever want to bring the files back from my External Drive to the Bin, I am not sure they would be able to go back where they belong.
Anyone with MediaMover 3.1 know the procedure?
Thanks.
Warning I have not used Media Mover 3 but did use all previous versions.
Media Mover always used to move the files out of Avids OMFI MediaFiles folder and into a new folder it created called "projectname" omf and I assume (silly me) that it does the same for MXF files by moving them out of the Avid MediaFiles folder to a new folder "projectname" mxf(?)
Your files now show up as offline BECAUSE Media Mover has moved them out of the required Avid media folder on your F and G drives.
As long as you are sure you have all the files on the external raid your easiest way is to trash the "Projectname" omf folder on your original F and G drives.
Thanks for the continued dongle support

Yes, it is very easy to bring it all back in but, be very methodical about it. If you split your media into separate folders do the same with the backup. All my media gets stored on HDX Raid 1A and 1B and into MXF folders "Avid MediaFiles" and OMF folders "OMFI MediaFiles". I have been moving the media offline with Media Mover and then storing projects on firewire book drives and putting them on a shelf (they are relatively cheap). I call the folders on the book drive HDX Raid 1A and 1B so if I want to bring the folders back - I know where to put them. Put them in the offline folders of your drives and then let Media Mover bring them back "online". It is great software but, I have a email question to their support group right now and I haven't heard back yet. Some of my files are corrupt although all projects play perfectly. Media Mover cannot "see" my last 4 projects and it is putting a bunch of that media into the wrong folder.
Hope this helps.

After backup/move with MM 3.1 -- and the files are safely stored onto the External Drive ---
Do I then go into the Bin and delete them (one by one)?
Do I delete the Project Folder itself?
Is this the way to make space on my F: and G: Drives?
Also, if I delete the files in the Bin and/or delete the Project Folder, will the MM 3.1 be able to perform an (On Line - Move Back) into the Bin if I want to in the future?
