Exporting AAF file for use in ProTools?

I was requested to export an AAF file for audio work in protools. I did this just by selecting AAF as the file and clicked on "Consolidate Media". The file I sent apparently did not work and was just links which did not link to anything.

I have never had to do this before and am a bit blind as to what settings I would use to create a workable AAF file for protools. From what I gather this is supposed to be a file with an additional folder with referencable media? I'm really not sure.

I just need to export whatever is needed to send along to an external location for audio work in pro tools. It's a 2 min edit with song accompanyment.

    Any help is much apprecaited.

Three identical threads all in MC PC?

(Answered the first one and added a pointer to that answer on the second one.)

Thanks for the continued dongle support

Just make sure the Embed media is selected and this will Embed the audio in AAF file as opposed to linking to media folders.

    Strider:

Here's the export profile I use to send sequence timelines to Pro Tools:

Export as AAF: enable use tracks and use marks

Select both "Include all video tracks in sequence" and "include all audio tracks in sequence".

    Video details:

    Export method: consolidate media

    "Render video effects" selected.

"Use same folder as AAF file" selected for both video and audio.

    Audio details:

    Handle length: 150 frames

Convert audio sample rate to 48kHz

Convert audio sample bit depth to 16 bit

Convert audio file format to PCM (MXF)

Be sure to mixdown your video so that you send a single video layer.

This profile has been working fine for over a year.

Thanks so much guys. I really appreciate your answering me. Sorry I posted it three times, the first two times I got a page saying it had timed out and handn't posted so I did it again. Didn't mean to make three seperate threads.

I used your setting Larry and this worked.

    Thanks again.

You're quite welcome, Strider. Be advised that there is currently an intermittent problem with postings here resulting in the "Sorry, an error has occurred" screen. Be assured that dispite that screen, your reply will indeed have been posted. In your case, that resulted in a triple posting of your starting post.
