Hi all,
I've got a failure with my old SR2200 chassis and was forced to run on SR2400. As described in User Manual I'd install Windows 2000 SP4 Server with all drivers for all hardware I have. After that I have taken Unity 4.2.3 installation CD and install Port Server software. Everything looks fine but haven't working so fine. Now all my Airspeeds are being connected to this PSP (I set up PSP in PortServer Configuration tool this way: Network Sharing on Mounted workspaces=enabled; Data Encryption=disabled; Dynamic mounting of MediaNet workspaces=enabled; PSP Type=Shared; IP adress=my current IP. In ProfilerApp I have choosen "PortServer/MediaServer" role). But any one from Editing Station van not be connected to the Unity as EthernetAttachedClient. My server's answer is "Your password is incorrect", but I'd set up all needed users in PSP domain. Fortunately I have another one PSP system, which is working perfectly with same settings. But what's wrong with this new one?
UPD. The "Status Viewer" app. also can't start - after doubleclick there are nothing happens, but from the "old" PSP I can see my new onу in good conditions.
Many thanks for your attention, folks. I did it. I find a reason why I've got a problems with PSP system.
You must have a host name entry for the License server, which is also the File Manager. Without it, no worky.
a sample host file entry
192.168.1.10 PrimaryFilemanager
It might be easier to simply copy the host file entries on your working portserver and paste them to the non-working one.

Dimch,
Good tech note info. Next person who has this should be able to find it in the Knowledge Base.

Actually, problem starts from Windows 2003 server installation, which is unsupported OS for PSP I see. Next what goes wrong is a missed installation of JVM (Java), which is missed in standart installation of Unity 423. So, when I set up Windows 2000 Serer on my modern chassis everything starts to work. The only one question what I have is about bandwidth. Comparing to the previously used system my new one in Status Viewer shows me the Total Bandwidth=72960KB, but the old one was 116736KB. The only one difference between these two servers is a network card: the "old" system have Alacritech adapter inside, the "new" system with Intel pro 1000 dual on-board. QoS in services is enabled on both with "manual" type of startup.
There's no problem with Win2003 server- you simply don't use it.
An Intel pro card WILL NOT WORK HERE. It's a lovely card, a wonderful card, I use it on all my ISIS Clients. It glitches the HELL out of a portserver pro.
ALACRITECH ONLY ON PORTSERVER PRO's. Rip the Intel out, and use the right hardware and software.
Well, that's all what explained in user manual, but there are one problem: today is a 21st century, and it is extremely hard to find SR2400 server in local store, especially if you doesn't have a valid support contract with Avid :) Alacritech card is also not so popular card. Anyway, my system works well without any glitches.
