Re: related to Equivelent version of media composer

    Hi,

    charan:
what is MC11.8? is it a new series of media composer?

No, it's actually a really old version of MC.  MC 3.5.x is the most current version.

    good luck,

    camoscato:

    curiosity:

Okay I bit the bullet and set up a system to try this out. Windows 7 (Beta7000) - 64bit Ultimate - formatted the hard drive and installed really quickly (much quicker than XP).

Avid MC 3.1.2 installed with only a couple of errors (I got a illegal function call error during the install - but I was unable to determine what is was in reference to.) I dismissed the errors and completed the installation.

MC loads fine - and basic functions (capturing video, playback to a deck/client display), basic edits, all work correctly.

i have read the article in  Avid Media Composer - PC » MC on Windows 7

    what does it mean?

    Hi,

    charan:
    what does it mean?

It means those guys are playing with their systems to see if Windows 7 works or not.  That's fine if you do not need your system to work all day every day because you rely on your system to make money.

If you need the system to run all the time, stick with the system requirements.  Windows 7 is not listed on the system requirements.

    good luck,
    Carl

Are you doing a digital cut over FireWire or are you using RS-422? The latter is what is supported for the DSR1800, IIRC.

IIRC= If I Recall (or Remember) Correctly.

There used to be a list of supported decks on the Avid website, stating under which conditions they could be used (FireWire, RS422, Digital Cut, Insert Edit, etc), but the unusable Knowledge Base doesn't come up with a darn thing. Neither does Google.

*edit* through Google I found a list of Supported Devices and it does list the DSR1800 as supported for both IEE1394 and RS-422, but under Digital Cut it says "Fully Supported" for PAL and "Fully Supported with Inconsistent Results" for NTSC.

Just another thought: are both the deck and the Avid properly genlocked?

It also says it only supports 4ch audio at 32KHz, not 48K.

Usually you just click on the name of a clip in the bin and type a new name.  The new name should show up in the media tool.  If that's not working, can you post a screen shot of where you're trying to change the clip name?

    good luck,

Re: Rename of captured clips in media composer

when we rename the clip in the bin it is changed in bin and media tool only for the project we are working on but when we open the same clip in media tool in another project, it shows the name of the clip which was originally captured.

I am just thinking loud and I am not at my system right now, but it might be possible to rename clips when you are using MDV, not at all sure however.
