Chaps /Chapettes,
I've never been a Unity administrator per-se, only having seen the workspace-end of things til now. Since joining this small company, I've had to get up to speed with what you guys I'm sure would consider to be the absolute basics of Unity admin.
Simply, I need to protect all our workspaces, and fairly urgently. Trouble is, I can't! We have been deleting a huge amount of media to allow for the mirroring, and I've optimised everything. However, when I log into the admin tool and select all the workspaces, both the protect and un-protect buttons are greyed out, as are the menu commands. What am I missing here??
The entire system (3.3-odd terabytes unmirrored) is reading 99.4% full in the workspace manager window, which is patently absurd, since it also says each physical drive in the set is only 41% full. Do I need to force the file manager to update or dump in some way in order to correct this?
Brow considerably furrowed...

Nowt at all?
If it helps diagnosis, this is a single allocation group of fourteen drives. Workspace manager sees the combined workspaces taking up 3250 gigs of a 3271.25 gigs group, but flipping over to the graphical view reveals 60% remaining capacity?!
Something has to be reset or forced to update, surely?
Any and all suggestions welcome!
Hi. I guess you are revering to your upper most percentage mentioned by the administration tool.
This is not the actual percentage the data is using on the unity. It shows you how much space all the workspaces together are taking up of the total storage. So even if your unity would be empty, all empty workspaces, and you would configure your workspaces to use all space of the unity, the upper percentage will go to 100%. This is also why you can't mirror at this moment. You have to remove 50% the workspaces or make them all 50% smaller to be able to mirror all of them.
I would advice you only to mirror the media files and keep backup of graphics, music, and all other documents un-mirrored.

Always have a backup of your projects....Always!!!! Yes Always!!!!
Software activation AND dongle is better then only software activation.

Ah, thanks Jeroen, that makes sense. Yes, this unity was set up from day one to use pretty much all of the available drive space unmirrored, save for a projects drive and it's backup counterpart.
Unfortunately, we have to online now, but I'll resize workspaces as soon as that's completed. Fingers crossed in the meantime...
Many thanks,
Just curious, are you sure that you have enabled the RAID option in dongle? For unity 4 is RAID (mirror) a paid option.
Check it with dongle dumper, you can find it in ProgramFiles/Avid/utilities
You know what, I just dumped (if you'll pardon the expression) and found that the raid option is indeed off. So thanks for being curious! I wouldn't have known to check that at all.
I assume it's now a case of contacting Avid direct or our reseller to organise an update. Any idea as to what to expect cost-wise?
Thanks for the pointers here, much appreciated.
