The following is the email I sent you in response to your forum message as well as your email message to my address:

Thanks for your time and dedication.  Further research on the interweb revealed a 'missing association' with the windows patch installer.  Manually creating this link changed my 'unrecognised MSP file' into a proper 'patch installer'!

It is now installed and despite the 'About' - version number not updating to 3.5.4.3 it has indeed succeeded and the media offline messages (and various other offences) have ceased.

If you do not have an FX1800, FX4800, FX3700 or FX3800 card and you receive a message when launching the application that tells you to update to the v182.65 driver, you should ignore the message. if you do not have the above cards, you should not update the drivers.

Only the 3700 has been showing the video mirror error on exit so, If you are experiencing the VideoMirror issue contact support and if your issue meets the criteria above you will be provided with the patch file.

A fair number of us who are not using the above mentioned video cards have been getting the VideoMirror error. Could any of this help us as well? (In my case it's a Quadro FX1100 and MC 3.1.3.)

I have now received the patch, installed it and have booted the 3.5.4 system three times and shut down three times without the "mirro" window opening and stopping the shutdown.

Thank you for the patch.

Now, I can concentrate on the DVD procedure.

While the fix for the videomirror is in 3.5.4.3 - it wasnt rolled into 3.1.3 as that is an older version.   Unfortunately, the only way to by pass it is to upgrade.  I know that stinks but 3.1.3 was the last of the 3.1.x releases and when the driver came out....  we only patched what we were currently shipping - 3.5.x.

Let me check with engineering though and see if they have any thoughts.  I know a patch for 3.1.x isnt in the cards but maybe they have another option.

Everyone else has been happy with the patch fixes.

Thanks. If it's something they can easily do, that would be great. But if not, please don't stress. I'm planing on going from 3.1 to 4.0, so I'll probably only be using 3.1 for another few months or so.

I know engineering resources are valuable and working on future features, which is more pressing and important.
