Hello.
I'm currently creating hundreds of groups and for better overview while synching the clips in a sequence, I pick a color for every camera (red for A, blue for B, green for C, .... up to H if the director has too much ideas).
Most of the times I can use subclips for every take, but sometimes clips span two or more takes and I have to create new subclips for that take. As it is a hassle to go to the color menu every time, I would like to know of a way to automate it via a shortcut for the keyboard, as the command palette doesn't allow me to assign a color to a key.
Has anyone found out how to do this?
Thanks in advance....
You should be able to select menu to button assignment and assign a key on your keyboard this selection.
Yes, you should, but it doesn't work.
Open Keyboard Settings. Open Command Palette. Choose Menu-To-Button. Click a Keyboard Settings key. Navigate to Edit->Set Color. Message: "This function can not be assigned" appears.
That said, the fastest way to select a clip color (IMHO) is to display the "Color" heading in the bin, and from there choose the color you want (per clip, though).
Or Record it in QuicKeys.
I'm using Quickeys X3 and it allows you to map some things that the Avid keyboard doesn't allow (including macro style sequences of actions).
The advantage here being that you can colour in a selection of clips with one key press.
