control configs - a few "easy" questions

    hello,

i just purchased media composer 3.5 for mac and am just adapting to some of the changes made for the hot key/controls. i had avid express pro hd for pc and there are a few subtle changes i have yet to figure out.

i have searched the interface and help section but to no avail. how do i do the following?

    1) where is the hot key or control for zooming manually? it used to be just pressing the arrow keys up and down to zoom - i changed it so the "focus" button is now the arrow key but it only zooms to one default.

    2) how do i load filler? i can only see the option to load filler at the start.

    3) how do i widen the tracks and adjust colors? it used to be that i could just stretch the tracks when hovering over it, but i cant do that in this version - id also like to change the color of the timeline as i dont like the default.

    thanks so much,

    steven

Use the CMD+"]" key to zoom in and CMD+"[" key to zoom out

    2) how do i load filler? i can only see the option to load filler at the start.

The menu above the Source monitor should have Load Filler

    3) how do i widen the tracks and adjust colors? it used to be that i could just stretch the tracks when hovering over it, but i cant do that in this version - id also like to change the color of the timeline as i dont like the default.

You should still get the cursor that allows you to stretch tracks if you hove between the them. If not, select the track and use CMD+"L" to enlarge and CMD+"K" to shrink.

    Hi,

    BLKDOG:
    1) where is the hot key or control for zooming manually? it used to be just pressing the arrow keys up and down to zoom - i changed it so the "focus" button is now the arrow key but it only zooms to one default.

Use the CMD+"]" key to zoom in and CMD+"[" key to zoom out

And just in case you don't like those command locations (I don't, and prefer the up and down arrows), you can map More Detail and Less Detail from the timeline fast menu to the up and down arrows.  Keep in mind that you'll be replacing the default commands on those keys, which I think are next and previous group; I never use them, so I'm not sure.

    good luck,
    Carl

Perhaps you should look up Keyboard Mapping in the Manual.

Change the command palette to "menu to button assign" and use the timeline menu to get the source commands

Thanks for the continued dongle support
