Hi guys!
I have a "pocket question" for this forum.
I´m working on a project with 5 cameras, 2 digibeta 124m tape per camera.
I had problems with 3 vtr´s (cam 2/3/4), non continuos TC... (bah!)
I had to sync all in sequences, so i have a lot of "edits" and blank spaces...!
Whey i try to group all the sequences in multicam mode, Avid say´s that "on of the sequences have more then on edit" and does not let me group it.
Videomixdown could be the solution, but i have no disk space for that... quicktime reference takes hours to import... is there any tip for it (?) i´m trying to create several multigroups (in multicam mode) but it´s taking me hours because i have small clips ("millions" of small clips) to group.
Any Tips?
Thank you all
Barcelos
Couldn't you have done a Multigroup of the clips based on IN points rather than TC?

Hi Kenton,
"...i´m trying to create several multigroups (in multicam mode) but it´s taking me hours because i have small clips ("millions" of small clips) to group."
Yes, i´m doing via inpoint... if i need to re-sync all my clips in sequences when i create new clip group i have to do it with the "in´s"...
What i would like to know is that if it´s possible to avoid videomixdown, quicktime reference and multigroup sequences with a lot of clips on it... Avid gives me and message that "your sequence have more than one edit"... it doesn´t let me do it via tc or inpoint...
Kenton, grouping CLIPS it´s easy... by in, tc or aux tc... grouping sequences with diferente clips on it... that´s my question!
Thks
I would think you could Sub out the sections of each sequence, then AutoSync them to make clips. Then, MutiGroup those. They should retain the TC info of the Seq they came from.
Ok, here is a REALLY sick idea.
Do you have a DigiBeta deck in house? Are you digitizing via a Mojo SDI or better?
If so, capture the tapes at 1:1 (uncompressed) and use the time line you have already created where you got all of the clips in sync.
Selectively output each "fixed" timeline per screwed up tape (cam 2,3,4) with new continous code.
Dump the existing media, reload from the new tapes.
I realize this is really time consuming and may not work for you. But I know of no way to do what are asking. And I agree it would be nice to be able to deal with your problem in a more elegant way.
good luck,
jef
