I restarted my Unity Media Network and after booting, my display became 640x480 at lowest4bit.I tried to set it at 32bit highest but it remains at the lowest resolution. I restarted it a couple of times already but still the display is set at the lowest level. I tried using all the monitors available here in the office but still no changes. Can anybody help me find a solution to this? Thanks.
Have you checked in the device manager if your graphic card is recognized correctly?

Software activation AND dongle is better then only software activation.

Yes. It says RAGE XL PCI, This device is working properly. Do you think I need to download any drivers that I need to install to fix the problem? The Unity works fine right now. I just don't know if it will cause some problems in the long run because it doesn't look normal having a 640x480 screen at this day and age.
No, don't think so. You can two things. Reimage the unity but as it is working normal I wouldn't.
In most cases an uninstall of the graphic card drivers and a restart fixes it on a windows XP workstation. I have never seen this on 2000/2003server but I see no harm in trying.
I have seen this before, we have certain KVM switches and piss it off.
Connect a different VGA monitor directly, then restart your Unity.

yeap a KVM switch can prevent a graphic card from detecting possible resolutions. But I didn't see any mentioning of a kvm switch...
thank you Jeroen. I did the uninstall display adapters from the device manager and restarted the unity and it did work. Rollback and update drivers didn't. Thank you. It was a very big help. Sorry guys no KVM switches attached.
Happy to be of service.
I've had this happen, most likely, the system has run out of resources even though it has 4 GB of system RAM due to improper memory allocation.
Run the Unity Profiler by going to the Windows Start button > Programs > Avid Unity and choose Profiler. Select Media Engine and then look for the Metadata Configuration information in the Profiler window.
If Page Table Entries shows "FAILED", then you need to run the 4 GB batch file to correct the allocation of RAM.
The 4GBME file is in the Media Engine 5.1.1 Installation package within the Extras folder.
Run the 4GBME.cmd file and reboot the Media Engine for the revised boot setting to take place.
