Hi all,
I want to set up an environment where I have two MediaComposers 3.5 connected to Unity MediaNetWork via fibre channel.
MXF OPATOMS are being written into \\unity_server\Avid MediaFiles\MXF\1 but no *.pmr or *.mdb files are being written, new files must be detected by the two editors (connected via Avid Unity connection manager).
How do I configure the editors to look under the same folder and index that folder whenever a new asset is present?
Best regards,
Rui A.
BTW
When I access Media Creation window on MediaComposer if I select the "Import" tab the drives mapped by Unity Connection manager appear in grey and I cant select any of them in order to perform an import operation. Do I have to configure something in order to use those drives?
ps: My Unity version is Lanshare 4.2.1
Make sure that both of your edit clients are mounting the Unity workspaces with drive letters. UNC network mapping will cause problems.
What you *should* be seeing in a shared storage environment is something like the following:
E:\Avid MediaFiles\MXF\EDIT1\ <media files here ingested by EDIT1>
E:\Avid MediaFiles\MXF\EDIT2\ <media files here ingested by EDIT2>
If you are set up properly, then you should certainly see .PMR and .MDB files in both of those locations, unless you are working in an Interplay environment. Regardless, the basic folder structure is the same.
Each edit system writes to it's own sub-folder and every other edit system can access that media if the workspace is mounted. That is exactly the way Unity is supposed to work.
Make sure each edit system has a unique hostname on your network. Also make sure, again, that you are mounting workspaces with drive letters, not as a network map.
