    sound troubles

I am having sound troubles.  the sound gets distorted over time, and my little sound icon has both disapeared and had an x through it, both in my icon tray and in avid.  however the problem is really only with avid.  i am assuming i dont have a sound card, but rather one integrated on my system.  i will check this.

in this case is there sound card specs listed somewhere.  i find the knowledge base, quite hard to navigate.  alot of what i find i find from google easier than the avid search on the site!

    any help would be appreciated.

    thanks

    Re: sound troubles

Members of this forum have always suggested to go with a Soundblaster Audigy card. I too have had good experiences in the past with an Audigy card. I had one in my old workstation and never had any sound issues.

Having said that, at the moment I am using my integrated onboard soundcard of my ASUS P5K mobo without any troubles.

    Thanks for that, Andy.

As you can see I am also using an ASUS P5K board (and also using the onboard sound without any noticeable problems)

However, it brings me back to my initial response - How can we know what Sweetmadness has or hasn't if there is no Profile with System specifications listed.  Smile

    Re: sound troubles

    Hey guys,

I have added the specs to my profile, so you can se what i am using.  Maybe it is compression, but not sure about that.

Can you elaborate on that? (i.e. what are your projects audio settings, how do you ingest the audio, what do you do with the audio in the Avid?).

Do you have access to another Avid workstation? You could open your project on the other system and see if the sound is still distorted (then you know for sure that it is your onboard audio.
