Hi,
Been trying to get some Red files playing back in realtime but to no avail.
Have uninstalled MetaFuze and reinstalled the DsComServer twice, it has installed the RedWrapper.dll but not the RedDecoder.exe, meaning i can link to the files but have to render them to play them back.
Any ideas as to how to get the RedDecoder.exe file to install?
Have now managed to get the RedDecoder.exe to install by downloading the DS V10.1.2, however i am still unable to get realtime playback on my system in either 2k or 4k linked R3D files (on local storage), i am running version 10 on an xw8400 with Nitris though i haven't read anything that says this platform can't handle it.
Please consult the chart from the Avid DS Support Center (also included in the application online help):

RED formats are not real-time, currently.
If you instead import and convert RED files to GEN 10-bit, this is how you can achieve real-time playback.
Are you finishing for a film printer or to tape?

Cheers Sylvain,
i took supported to mean real time playable, my mistake.
We're looking at both film and tape workflows with the DS doing the conform and online but the grade being done in a dedicated telecine suite, what is going to be the main difference between the 2 workflows from a DS point of view?
May I suggest that you read the new Hi-Res Workflow and Color Guide recently published on the Avid DS Support Center, and included in the 10.1.2 Update release:
http://aviddssupport.avid.com/index.htm?section=documentation/online_library.htm&sub=guides/10.0.htm
I hope this document will provide the answers to your workflow questions.
Cheers,
the new hi-res workflow guide is a lot clearer than the previous documentation, especially when it comes to explaining how DS works with LUTs.
