    What codec am I missing?

I am exporting my HD 1920 x 10801 project under the Same As Source setting as I want to have no compression. But when I try to play it the screen is just white. I searched the forum and it said that if this is the case then I am missing a codec but I'm not sure what exactly I'm missing or how to get it.

It directs me to the quicktime plugin site with a list of them but I don't have a clue which one to download or where to start.

    Anyone know?

Re: What codec am I missing?

do you want to play the QT file on the same machine you created the clip or on a different one?
if it's a different machine you can install the AVID LE codecs to play the files.

which leads us to the question: what is your source resolution?

Re: What codec am I missing?

I want to convert the file to something else in Seronson Squeeze but I'm having some trouble exporting without any loss to the quality of the file right from Avid. My original footage is 1920 x 1080i but nearly everything I try comes out looing lossy and not nearly as good as the original footage and I'm not sure why so I think exporting same as source will solve the problem but I can't see the file due to it beain white.

I am trying to play  the file on the same computer that has Avid on it so I presume it already has Avid LE so is missing something else.

    Thanks, Strider

Re: What codec am I missing?

why don't you use a QT reference file? or you could just try to install the AVID PE codecs that came along with your installation disc. just to be shure.....

OT Ref file comes out pixelated. I tried installing the PE codecs again but I'm still getting the same white screen. Is there some other codec I should have to be able to see this?

The footage being 1920x1080 has nothing to do with the codec.

Where did the footage come from (XDCam/HDV, etc?)

What res did you choose when you imported/captured?

Since you're referencing the original material it should be the same quality as the original.  Are you playing the QTref file from the desktop?  This can lead to dropped frames and pixellation.

Try working with the QTref file in Sorenson and see how you go.  If you've already done that with no joy, then as Kenton asked

    Kenton.VanNatten:

You may have to do a mixdown to get QTref to work.

Could that "something else" be the problem?  Pixellation sounds like the data bandwidth of your Sorenson output file is too limited for what you're trying to do.
