Hi all,
I havent posted here for a while as I havent been editing. But here's the story.
I went to work with a company at Shepperton Studios called Axis Films. I took my Avid DS with me and worked as an owner operator with them. I did this for about 2 years. However, they went bankrupt in January and I was locked out of the building and couldnt get my equipment back.
Eventually through the lease company that I leased my equipment from I managed to secure back most of my kit. (They went in an repossessed a lot of equipment from Axis.) But Axis have lost two parts of the kit, the small 1U breakout box and the harddrive raid. I can replace the raid, but I can't get another breakout box.
Does anyone happend to have one that I can buy from them? Currently my kit is as good as a chocolate fireguard in its current configuration. next to useless. The system wont fire up without the missing box.
Please help....
Regards
WozyWarrenfilm
I must add that this is the older Avid DS, not the Nitris v5.7 if I remember correctly
Wozzy;
So sorry to hear about this turn of events... like you i am an owner/operator with my gear in road cases, and often at producer's offices....
With knowing what your hardware is, it's hard to know where to start looking.. i'm guessing it's the audio i/o, keyops i think? that was 1 RU....
You can re-load the software and tell it there's no audio subsystem, and it wil load with the onboard wave enabled, completly usless for working with tape based sources, but you can monitor file based stuff this way.. so it may be workable a short term answer...
Can you ask the leasing agent for the hardware list? This list would be held by them so they know what assets they are leasing to you.. then you can scour fleabay for the bit's you are missing?
Not much help i know... and sorry to hear about this nuttyness.. i just missed getting caught in the same mess eight years ago...
d.
Hi Woz, is it ver 5.0 or 7.5? Do you have the Equinox bob? I have a spare Bob lying around, but it is definitely not 1RU. The Dua converters were 1RU tall. Anything ringing a bell?

Thanks Dermot. I can try that out in the short term but nearly all my work is tape based...
Thanks again.
Wozy
Hi Mrmikster. Thanks for your reply.
It is version 7.6 and is the equinox BOB. Its the Dua converter box that is missing. I managed to get the main BOB back.
So the system will run, but you won't get audio out right? I'll look around in my garage and see if I have a Mykerinos laying around. I'll let you know tomorrow. Our Dua's were grabbed by our ProTools guys for some reason or another.
Thanks very much. Fingers crossed then.
Cheers!
Hello Wozy,
Merging still support and sell this hardware, or so their website implies:

Did you have insurance to cover your equipment? Maybe can you claim and cover the cost for buying a new Dua II?

Thanks for the advice. I have contacted them and they can supply the Dua 11 from their factory in Switzerland for £1,979+vat. That's over $3,200...
Is this really what they are worth? I can't beleive that it is so expensive.
Any thoughts?
Wozy..
Phil Masterman just posted a for sale note on the google list.. includes a Dua11
Might drop him a line?
