I have to work on an existing project while on the road this week. I am familiar with consolidate and use it all the time for archiving but have not used it to move a project between computers. I have copied/consolidated the media for the project to a qualified laptop with an esata drive. I have also copied the project file but ran out of time and have not opened it yet. My question is regarding going back to the original computer. Should I copy the new (modifed) project file over the old one? Will it pick up the links to the media automatically?
I would really appreciate a step by step thru the process.
thanks...Kevin
I would make new Bins for anything new you that you create on the laptop. Then, only copy new Bins back to the original system. These will not over-write the original Bins. Other than newly created media, renders, etc., everything should link up.

Thanks for the info...so you are saying that if I make a new sequence for the project while working on the laptop, I should save it in a new bin, then copy only that bin back to my workstation when I am back in the studio?
Kevin
Randall's offline, so I'll jump in here. Yes, that is correct - however, if you create any new media clips in the laptop, those will show up offline when you move the project back to the studio platform, and will need to be either batch re-captured or batch re-imported, and as Randall pointed out, any effects rendering done on the laptop will need to be re-rendered on the studio platform.
