Due to a virus, I need to install a Windows patch on both SystemDirectors, which is fully supported by Avid. But, I want to make a metadata backup, just in case...

Where can I found the file/s?

Your total metadata is not on the SD-  only partial,  some is on the storage.

What patch-   I may have already done it.   And-  in a 2 SD environment,  you can patch the standby,  fail over, then patch the new "standby"

That´s what I wanted to do: patch the standby one, trigger a failover, then work again on the current standby. If the patch is supported, nothing should happen.

The MS Windows patch is "KB958644" (Google it). It prevents remote code execution; what makes me doubt about the installation is the fact that MS doesn´t seems to provide a Windows XP Embedded version of the patch, just SP1, SP2, etc.

That´s why I want to backup my metadata before doing something I can regret.

So, again, how can I backup my SysDir metadata? and do you have any info about this patch?

Get partition0, Partition1, Partition dump.bin

Back it up,  but only use in case of a failure-   you should have no problems putting the patch in.   I put it in last fall, with no problems.
