    Mojo DX deck control issue

I am working on a new Mojo DX on a Mac.  We are doing an HD project that was supposed to be all tapeless, but for one of the shoots, they shot on HDCAM tapes...

The serial port which would normally control the deck is useless on the Mojo DX.  Apparently, they just put it there for "manufacturing purposes."  (see page 20 "using the Avid Mojo DX)

We are renting an HDCAM deck to digitize the footage tonight.  How am I going to get control of the deck thru the Avid?  Do I hook up the SDI for the footage and the firewire for deck control?

    Any help would be appreciated.

You'll want to use RS-422 deck control.  This is connected to the Mac via the USB port using a Keyspan serial to USB adapter.

    So you'll need:

    1-a RS422 to serial cable

2-a Keyspan adapter (this adapts the serial signal to USB)

Once connected you'll configure the deck in the Avid software using the Deck Configuration setting.

we have a cable here from the old system that is a rosetta stone model usb/4.  it also says vtr 422 on it.  it is usb on one end and serial on the other

i am guessing this is the adapter and cable rolled into one?

But you need 422 for the deck.

Re: Mojo DX deck control issue

i just found a keyspan adapter back here as well, so this should work...

i think this company i am working for this week used to have an old mojo, and it seems the old cables will work with the new mojo as well...

we will see when the deck gets here

I've come across the same cable. Did you get it to work for you? If so, how? Thanks

.- That's all you need, The USB/4 has a built in RS-422 cable.

Download the Mac drivers from the addenda site, configure in Avid and you should be set.

Thanks for the quick response. How will it show up in AVID? Do i need to do anything in the MAC system prefs? And does anyone know if it works with Sony's DSR-1800A?

I just picked up one of these cables today to connect to a DSR-45 - When I go into Deck config I select Direct, but my only option is "No Port"

I've installed the Mac drivers, what else am I missing?
