I am recapturing deleted footage (media files) on a project that has already been logged, edited, etc. I am doing the batch capture off the same camera I used to capture. Sony HDV 60i.
Some of the clips capture fine, others give me a DIG_TOO_SHORT error or INVALID_TRIM
I´ve read previous posts about work arounds (setting capture to capture over timecode breaks, etc)
But when those work arounds don´t work, what is the best way to relink media?
For example, I could:
Start capturing at the in point and then manually stop close to the end point. Is there a way that I can ensure that MC would recognize this clip as the same media that I had before? In other words, so that media would show up on my timeline, automatically?
in other words, WHEN BATCH CAPTURE FAILS, AFTER ALL WORK AROUNDS ARE EXHAUSTED, WHAT IS PLAN B TO RELINK MATERIAL?
Any suggestions, recipes, etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Also, it is now cycles through each list of clips to capture 4 or 5 times before stopping. The first time it might say that the capture was successful but then it changes to that it was skipped. Weird!
PS: this is the error log from the console:

Recapturing HDV is a pain in the backside, so you have my sympathy. What I have done in the past when faced with the same problem is to open a brand new bin, crash record the clips starting before the previously logged in point and stopping after the logged out point. Then once you have these new media files, select the sequence and relink it to the new media. I have never been able to batch re-capture HDV and get it to link to the original logged bin entries.

Is this the same problem described in your previous post?
Did you try the suggestions presented to you? Maybe it would be less time consuming capturing
the entires tapes and then relink.
For the present time there are no new fixes to adress this problem, probably folks at Avid
are evaluating this, as many users report it.
Good luck
P.S - On a side note, I usually work in large Avid systems with Mojos and Unity for several production companies. However , I have my own home Avid System. MC 3.5, no Mojo, no qualified hardware except a Quadro card.
I usually batch capture using a Canon HV30 camera and it always worked fine. Makes me wonder where the problem lies.
Greetings from Lisbon.

From the MC v3.1.3's read-me:
"Bug Number: UDevC00108087. You might have received a “DIG_TOO_SHORT” error when performing a batch capture in a 720p 59.97 project. This has been fixed."
Maybe you want to update your system?!
