SFCONS_VIDEO_UNDERRUN // Hardware detected a host vsync error

    Hi all,

When I try to output a digital cut I get the following error message in the console:

    ___________________

Error/Status [0x80001039]--- Adding 0 ADM repeat frames to coincidence ---

    --- Digital Cut --- DI0 frameRepeat=0, delayRecordCommand=0 ---

Exception caught in Aplayer::Play - Exception: SFCONS_VIDEO_UNDERRUN, DI0err:Avid DNA Detected Hardware Underrun

Please quit the application and power cycle the hardware.

    [Error: DMPort Error]

Error/Status: [0x80001039]Error/Status Reporting: Hardware detected a host vsync error

The timeline and the deck will stop at various points of the output (from 5 seconds to 8 minutes) and no message window pops up, only when I go to the console do I see the error message.

I'm on an HP xw8400, 2.66GHz Xeon; 3 GB of RAM; Nvidia QuadroFX 1500 PCIe x16 Graphics Card; Running Avid Media Composer 3.1.1 with a Mojo-SDI.

I've refreshed the deck configuration (Direct on COM1) for my Sony DVW-500, recycled my hardware, tried outputting to a different deck, re-seeded my firewire card and even swapped out my firewire card and cable with a machine that works, checked my reference signal, tried with different projects (all 30i NTSC,) and all sequences have been mixed down to a 1:1 video mixdown. I've tried using the Mojo-SDI on a HPxw8600 that is also running MC3.1.1 and we had no problem outputting whatsoever.  So it looks like it isn't a problem with the Firewire card nor the Mojo-SDI.  This xw8400 originally had an Adrenaline HD BOB connected to it and it gave me the same error.

I have no trouble capturing from any of our decks nor editing with my machine, the issue comes when I try to make a digital cut.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you for your time.

    Mayhaps,

Did you check this link out:  http://www.avid.com/cgi/kbase-redir.aspx?p_faqid=72022

This was on the KB.   refers to Mojo but also affects adrenaline as they are both DNA devices.

Re: SFCONS_VIDEO_UNDERRUN // Hardware detected a host vsync error

    Marianna,

Thanks for the fast response! I have seen this article and I've tried all of the recommended solutions besides trashing my MC State and Site settings.  I trashed the MC State and Site settings in my Settings folder, and the MC State settigns in my user folder this morning, and now I can't even connect to any of our decks (2 Sony DVW-A500s, D-Beta; Sony BVW-D75, Beta; or our Panasonic AJ-HD1200A, DVCPROHD) besides our Panasonic AJ-D455, DV/DVCPRO deck through our Patch bay.  I've restarted my machine multiple times and even tried creating a new user.  I've refreshed my deck configuration on each attempt (Direct, COM1), and no luck.

I am going to try and bring in our Panasonic AJ-HD1200A deck into my room and patch the SDI and remote straight into my machine.  I'll let you know if that works out for me.

All of our other rooms can patch to and from all the decks just fine, so if it is just a coincidence that the patch for my remote went bad overnight then why would I still be able to patch to one deck and not the others?

    Thanks again for your help!

We had this same error pop up on our xw8200's on unity with 4gig fibre.  Turns out the slot configuration was updated after we got our systems.  Had to swap the slots for the firewire and fibre card.

Re: SFCONS_VIDEO_UNDERRUN // Hardware detected a host vsync error

We're connected to a 4Gb fibre unity as well but we got ours pretty recently and thanks for the configuration page, I double checked and I'm configured correctly.

So it turns out that when I brought the AJ-1200 into my room and connected it directly to the RS232 port in my computer I had deck control.  I originally had a RS422/232 converter from our machine room patch to my Avid and I've determined that the cable has gone bad.  I've swapped out the RS422 to 232 cable with another one and now I have complete deck control with all of our decks and I've even been able to completely output an 8 minute program.  I need to do further tests with longer programs to see if the bad cable is what caused my digital cut problems.

    Thanks for everyone's insight!

I'll post my results after further testing.
